As a member of the UBI team, this position involves a wide range of duties related to checking and savings accounts, CD's, loans, and general ledger accounts. Responsibilities include processing overdrafts, reconciling, computer-oriented operations, handling telephone inquiries, and other day-to-day functions of the bookkeeping department. Participates in rotation in NSF/non-post processing, loan balancing, and wire processing. Performs Fedline and Automated Clearing House (ACH) processing duties. Maintains exceptional customer service when working with or assisting all customers and employees. Sells and promotes all bank services in such a way as to enhance the bank's image within the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities are intended to describe those functions that are essential to the performance of this job.

Performs balancing functions for loans, correspondent banks, and internal accounts

Performs Fedline processing duties such as ACH entries: wire transfers, large item returns, and 2900 reports.

Performs international wire transfers.

Educates and train ACH originators.

Monitors ACH returns levels.

Maintains monthly ACH limits spreadsheet.

Handles telephone inquiries.

Provides customer service support for both customers and employees.

Processes non-sufficient fund report and non-post report

Prepares overdraft and nonsufficient fund notices.

Prepares bank statements for distribution.

Handles research requests from customers.

Follows all bank procedures and maintains confidentiality on all banking matters.


NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Non-essential duties include those that are considered incidental or secondary to the overall purpose of this position.

Performs general Teller duties as needed.

Performs Receptionist duties as needed.

Assists with training.

Attends seminars and training sessions.

Works at other branches of the Bank.

Participates in marketing projects.

Serves on committees.

Picks up and/or delivers mail to post office.

Maintains hardware and office equipment.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for satisfactory performance of the functions of this position.


EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and more than 2 years work experience at United Bank of Iowa or sister bank.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Strong reading, writing and verbal skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, prospective customers, and other employees.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Count, add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest and percentages.


REASONING ABILITY:

Recognize irregular or suspicious transactions and take appropriate steps to prevent loss.

Comprehend and understand bank operations, policies (manuals), and procedures.

Reconcile problems requiring common sense judgment, tact, and on-the-spot decisions.

Determine whether or not requests for confidential information should be granted or refused.


OTHER SKILLS:

Basic understanding of computer-related operations.

Interpersonal skills to deal with customers in a courteous and professional manner.

Basic understanding of debits and credits.

Proficiency with ten key calculator.

Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet and database software to generate correspondence and reports.

Anticipated work schedule will be Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
